On First Ukranian Mass in the UAE's History
22 December 2014 12:09

19 December 2014 was a special day for the Ukranian Community in the UAE. For the first time, the community celebrated the mass in Ukranian. Fr. Yuriy Yurchyk the new resident priest for the Ukranians celebrated the Mass at the Arabic Hall in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Dubai. Fr. Michael O'Sullivan, the priest of the Apostolic Vicariate of Southern Arabia, concelebrated. The Liturgy was celebrated according to the Byzanitne Rite.

A festive evening with gifts in honor of St. Nicholas was held for the Ukrainian community's children after the Divine Liturgy.

These events were conducted with the assistance of the Embassy of Ukraine to the UAE, whose members also took part.

During the Liturgy representatives of the Ukrainian community in the UAE have prayed, in particular, for peace and calm in Ukraine, for its unity and for the health of its soldiers.

From now on the celebration of masses in Ukrainian will take place on a regular basis here in the UAE, that will bolster the spiritual unity of Ukrainians living in this country.
