President Petro Poroshenko has held a meeting with delegation of leading experts of the European Council on Foreign Relations.
The Head of State has informed on the situation in Donbas. The President has stressed that Ukraine had managed to restore its Armed Forces ruined by the previous government. According to him, our country has also managed to create a powerful volunteer movement, which provides significant assistance in the high-quality maintenance of the army.
Petro Poroshenko has emphasized that Ukraine strictly complied with the Minsk agreements. At the same time, the opposite party doesn't fulfill its commitments. "We need unity and solidarity of the EU countries. Certainly, we need economic, military and political support, but the main thing is clear and united position of the EU," the President noted. The Head of State has reminded that Ukrainians paid a high price for the values of freedom and independence, as well as the desire to live in a European and democratic country.
Petro Poroshenko has urged to support the initiative of sending the international peacekeeping mission to Donbas. At the same time, the peacekeeping operation will not be an alternative to the OSCE mission, which has to carry out monitoring and verification throughout the occupied territory.
Former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Sweden Carl Bildt has emphasized that the Ukrainian authorities must preserve coalition formed after the elections to implement reforms. He added that state reformation was a difficult process, yet essential for Ukraine.
