On February 28, 2012 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Arab Emirates Yuriy Polurez presented his credentials to His Majesty King of the Kingdom of Bahrain Sheikh Hamad Bin Isa Al Khalifa.
After the official welcoming ceremony they held separate talks. Bahraini leader congratulated Ukrainian diplomat on his high appointment and emphasized the readiness to develop cooperation with Ukraine in all areas without exception. During the meeting there was a discussion of establishing a regular political dialogue as a key to further fruitful cooperation between the countries.
The day before, on February 27, 2012, the Ambassador of Ukraine presented a copy of credentials to H.E. the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa. During the meeting the Minister congratulated Ukrainian diplomat on the appointment noting that Bahrain was interested in developing bilateral relations with Ukraine because of its place in the world community and strategic location. Sheikh Khalid bin Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa said that Bahrain like Ukraine had a considerable history of its formation and development unlike other countries in the region.
They also discussed cooperation in trade, economic and investment spheres. The Minister of Foreign Affairs invited the representatives of Ukrainian business to pay more attention to Bahrain despite it’s small size and local market. According to him more and more foreign companies use the infrastructure and logistics of Bahrain for doing business in the booming Eastern provinces of Saudi Arabia.
