On January 16, 2012 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United Arab Emirates Yuriy Polurez attended the official opening ceremony of the World Future Energy Summit 2012 (WFES).

During the last years the summit has become a global effective platform for discussing and finding solutions to problems of development and implementation of renewable energy, "clean" and energy saving technologies.

The opening ceremony was attended by world leaders, heads of states, UN Secretary-General, Prime Minister of China, Prime Minister of South Korea and President of the 66th UN General Assembly. Also the opening was attended by President of Iceland, Kosovo, Serbia, Director general of WWF International, heads of Emirati and international companies in the field of renewable energy. Over 26,000 attendees, including 3,000 delegates, 650 exhibiting companies and 20 national pavilions participated in the summit.
