Today, on the third Thursday of May, Ukraine and Ukrainians around the world celebrate Vyshyvanka Day — a celebration of our identity, culture, and unity.

This year marks the 20th anniversary of Vyshyvanka Day — a journey from a student initiative to a symbol that today unites millions of Ukrainians across the globe.

For Ukrainians, the vyshyvanka is more than traditional clothing. Its patterns carry the memory of generations, the strength of our people, love for our homeland, and a deep connection to our roots.

Today, as Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine continues for the fifth year, it is especially important to preserve our identity, culture, and traditions, passing them on to future generations. Despite all challenges, Ukrainians continue to protect what is theirs, defend freedom, and build the future.

The vyshyvanka has become not only a symbol of unity for Ukrainians worldwide, but also a kind of talisman that reminds us: no matter who we are or where we are, we remain Ukrainians.

The team of the Embassy of Ukraine in the UAE joined World Vyshyvanka Day — a symbol of unity, resilience, and the preservation of Ukrainian identity during one of the most difficult periods in Ukraine’s modern history.
