On May 17, 2015 the events dedicated to the Day of remembrance of the victims of political repression and to the 71th anniversary of the deportation of Crimean Tatars were held at the Embassy of Ukraine to the UAE.
The participants of the event paid tribute to all the victims of political repression, and in particular to Crimean Tatars. During the event the archival photos, audio and video footage were being demonstrated. There was also a display of "Qirim", a short-footage documentary about Crimean Tatars directed by Ksenia Zhornokley (Ukrainian director, who now lives in the United Arab Emirates and has kindly provided her film to the Embassy). This film won the bronze statuette "Remi Award" at the International Film Festival in Houston in early May this year. And on May 18, 2015 it was presented at Cannes Film Festival.
