Today, Ukraine marks the Day of Crimean Resistance to Russian Occupation.
On this day in 2014, thousands of Ukrainians gathered outside the building of the Supreme Council of Crimea to firmly declare that Crimea was, is, and always will be an integral part of Ukraine. This day serves as a reminder of the resilience of Crimeans and all Ukrainians who defend the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country.
This act of courage became a symbol of the Ukrainian people’s steadfastness and a reminder of the importance of unity in the fight for freedom and territorial integrity. Its significance resonates all the more today, as Ukraine continues to defend its borders and the rights of its citizens.
As in 2014, Ukraine reminds the world that the struggle for freedom continues and that occupation cannot become the norm.
