31 January 2026 12:45

Taras Kachka, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine for European and Euro-Atlantic Integration, and Reem Al Hashimy, UAE Minister of State for International Cooperation, co-chaired the fourth meeting of the Ukraine–UAE Joint Committee, held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi.

Representatives of around 30 public and private institutions from both countries participated in the meeting. The parties reaffirmed their intention to expand cooperation in trade and investment, energy, industry, logistics, agriculture, water management, healthcare, space, culture, sports, and youth policy. It was emphasized that the Joint Committee remains a key instrument for coordinating bilateral relations, which have been developing since 1992 on the basis of trust and regular dialogue.

Particular attention was given to the entry into force of the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is expected to boost trade turnover, stimulate investment flows, and create new business opportunities in both countries. Emirati businesses were encouraged to increase investment in the Ukrainian market, particularly in port infrastructure and logistics, construction, conventional and renewable energy.

The meeting took place amid intensified Ukrainian–Emirati engagement. The parties confirmed their readiness to deepen sectoral cooperation and strengthen coordination between government institutions and the private sector to develop long-term intercontinental partnerships.

The UAE reiterated its readiness to continue supporting Ukraine’s economic recovery, focusing on priority sectors, attracting investment, rebuilding critical infrastructure, and implementing humanitarian projects.

The holding of trilateral consultations in Abu Dhabi involving Russia, Ukraine, and the United States on the settlement of the war was also noted. It was stressed that this reflects trust in the UAE as a platform for dialogue and peace initiatives, and support for the negotiation process by U.S. President Donald Trump was recorded.

Following the meeting, the Joint Committee Protocol was signed and the intention to maintain regular interagency coordination was reaffirmed.

In addition, a Letter of Intent was concluded between the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economy, Environment and Agriculture of Ukraine on cooperation in the field of food security. The document provides for the exchange of experience and data, the implementation of best practices, and the development of partnerships and joint investments in food production, processing, and supply.
