The Ukrainian school "Dyvosvit" in Abu Dhabi, which operates at the Embassy of Ukraine in the UAE, hosted a celebration on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding Ukrainian writer, translator and cultural figure Lesya Ukrainka.
Students and teachers prepared a rich program. The participants of the event, in particular, talked about the main facts of life and the art path of the poetess.
The young participants of the celebration were interested to learn about Lesia Ukrainka's poetry written for children which was included in the cycle "In the children's circle".
During the event students recited poems by the poetess "Oh, cherries-bird-cherries…", "On a green hill…", "Warm summer is over", "Hope", "The sun is setting in the sea", "Contra spem spero!" etc.
Students also presented a staging of Lesya Ukrainka's conversation with her grandmother and an excerpt from the drama extravaganza "Forest Song".
The children also made small booklets where they created drawings for Lesya Ukrainka's poems.
At the end of the holiday those present and participants were treated with an extremely tasty and festively decorated "Kyiv cake", made by Ukrainian master Inna Stotska from the flowering Ukrainian city of Poltava, who currently lives in Dubai.
