President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has held a phone conversation with Federal Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel.
President Poroshenko has thanked for the ratification of the Association Agreement between Ukraine and the EU in German Bundestag.
The parties have discussed the situation in Donbas and stated that Russian-backed militants should comply with the ceasefire regime and fulfill all items of the Minsk agreements, including the liberation of hostages.
Petro Poroshenko and Angela Merkel have agreed to hold the meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Normandy group in the nearest time to negotiate topical issues on the further progress in the fulfillment of the Minsk agreements and the organization of peacekeeping mission in Donbas.
The parties are hopeful that tomorrow's meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group will facilitate further steps in the implementation of the Minsk agreements.
The President has conveyed gratitude from Ukrainian soldiers, who have undergone treatment in Germany and are currently undergoing treatment in Chernihiv military hospital. He has also thanked for the provision of German medical equipment.
